Sugar Rush Super Scatter — the 7x7 cluster slot where the scatters pay cash

Two Sugar Rush games taught players to chase multiplier spots. The third changes the deal: the scatters now carry a prize of their own, worth 100x up to the full 50,000x ceiling. Every verified number behind that claim is below — along with the three UK-licensed casinos that run it.

Overview

What Sugar Rush Super Scatter actually is

Strip away the candy art and this is a 49-tile board with no paylines on it. Symbols land in a 7x7 block, any five or more of the same kind touching horizontally or vertically count as a cluster, and every cluster that pays is removed so the tiles above drop into the gaps. That tumble repeats for as long as new clusters keep forming, which is why a single spin can resolve in one second or run for fifteen.

What separates the third Sugar Rush from the first two is what happens underneath. Every winning cluster leaves a mark on the grid, and a mark that gets covered again turns into a multiplier that doubles on each repeat hit. In the base game those marks are wiped when the tumbling stops. Inside the free spins they are not — they sit there for the whole round, compounding. By the last few spins of a long trigger the board can be carrying a patchwork of x32, x128 and x512 tiles, and the multipliers covered by one cluster are added together before the payout is calculated.

Then there is the headline change. Pragmatic Play added a second scatter — a yellow sun lollipop called the Super Scatter — which counts towards the bonus trigger like an ordinary scatter but also pays cash on its own. Land the right combination and the game settles the prize immediately, without a single free spin being played. That is the route to the 50,000x ceiling, and it is why this release does not feel like a reskin of Sugar Rush 1000.

The practical shape of a session follows from that. Roughly one spin in three returns something, usually less than the stake. The bonus appears about once every 310 spins. In between, you are watching for scatters — which, for the first time in this series, is worth doing for its own sake.

Mechanics

How cluster pays and tumbles work

If you have only played payline slots, the first ten minutes here can feel unreadable. It is simpler than it looks — six steps, repeated on every spin.

  1. Symbols fill the 7x7 grid49 tiles

No reels spin in the traditional sense and there are no paylines to activate. Forty-nine positions are filled at once, and the whole board is evaluated as a single picture.

  2. Five connected symbols form a clusterMin 5

Matching symbols count when they touch horizontally or vertically. Diagonal contact does not link them. The bigger the cluster, the steeper the payout curve.

  3. Winning clusters explode and leave a markSpot created

Paid symbols are removed and the position underneath is highlighted. That highlight is the seed of every multiplier the game will hand you later.

  4. Everything above tumbles downCascade

Remaining symbols fall into the gaps and fresh ones drop in from the top. If the new arrangement contains another cluster, it pays too, and the cycle repeats.

  5. Repeat hits on a marked tile create multipliersx2 → x1,024

The first time a marked position is covered by a new win it becomes x2. Every further hit doubles it. Several multipliers inside one cluster are added, not multiplied together.

  6. The sequence ends when no cluster formsSettle

The total for the spin is paid out. In the base game the marks and multipliers are then wiped clean — which is exactly what the free spins round changes.

The one detail most guides skip

A cluster can be any shape at all — an L, a snaking line across three rows, a ring around the middle of the board — provided every symbol in it shares a full edge with the next one. Corner contact alone does not connect two tiles. That single rule is why big wins here usually arrive as awkward, sprawling shapes rather than neat blocks, and why a tumble that looks like a near miss often is one.

The engine room

Multiplier spots — the part that decides your session

Nothing else in Sugar Rush Super Scatter moves the needle as much as this. Understand the ladder and the difference between base game and free spins, and the rest of the maths follows.

  1. Hit 1x2
  2. Hit 2x4
  3. Hit 3x8
  4. Hit 4x16
  5. Hit 5x32
  6. Hit 6x64
  7. Hit 7x128
  8. Hit 8x256
  9. Hit 9x512
  10. Hit 10x1,024

How a tile climbs the ladder

A position only enters the ladder once it has already paid. The first winning cluster covering it leaves a mark and nothing more. The next time a cluster covers that same tile, the mark becomes x2. Cover it again and it is x4, then x8, and so on. Ten separate hits on one position take it to the published ceiling of x1,024 — a number you will read about far more often than you will see it.

Multipliers add, they do not multiply

This trips people up constantly. If one cluster happens to cover a x32 tile and a x64 tile at the same time, the cluster is paid at x96, not x2,048. Addition keeps the maths sane, and it is also why a broad, sprawling cluster across several marked tiles is worth more than a compact one sitting on a single high multiplier.

Base game wipes, free spins keep

In the base game the entire board of marks and multipliers is cleared the moment the tumble sequence ends. Nothing carries into the next spin. Inside the free spins round nothing is cleared at all: spots stay, multipliers keep doubling, and the grid grows steadily more valuable as the counter runs down. That single difference is why a seven-scatter trigger worth thirty spins is not merely three times a ten-spin trigger — it is considerably more.

Sugar Rush Super Scatter free spins win screen
Mid-bonus: with six free spins left, the marked tiles from earlier wins are still on the board and still compounding.

Read x1,024 correctly

The ceiling applies to a single tile, and reaching it requires ten separate winning clusters to land on that exact position inside one bonus round. It is a boundary of the system, not an expectation for your session. Most rounds end with the best tile somewhere between x2 and x32.

The headline feature

The Super Scatter mechanic, and why it doubled the ceiling

Sugar Rush paid 5,000x at most. Sugar Rush 1000 pushed that to 25,000x by stretching the multiplier ladder. Super Scatter reaches 50,000x a different way — by making the scatter symbol itself worth money.

Scatter symbol
ScatterOpens the bonus. Pays nothing alone.
Super Scatter symbol
Super ScatterOpens the bonus and pays cash on the spot.

Both symbols can land anywhere on the grid and both count towards the free spins trigger, so from a distance they behave the same. The difference is what happens once a qualifying group of three or more scatters is on the board. The game looks at how many of them are Super Scatters, and pays accordingly — immediately, before any free spin is played.

One Super Scatter inside that group is worth 100x your total bet. Two is 500x. Three is 5,000x. Four is the full 50,000x. Note how steeply the curve bends: the step from two to three multiplies the award tenfold, and the step from three to four does it again. That is the entire structure behind the game’s maximum win, and it is why spotting a second sun lollipop drifting onto the board feels different from anything in the earlier titles.

One practical consequence: the free spins are no longer the only outcome worth waiting for. In the previous Sugar Rush games a scatter landing was purely a countdown. Here it can end the spin with a four-figure multiple of your stake and no bonus round at all.

Bonus round

Free spins: triggers, lengths and what changes

Three or more scatters of any type, anywhere on the grid, open the round. How many spins you get depends on how many landed — and because Super Scatters count towards the same total, a big trigger often arrives with a cash prize attached.

Free spins awarded by number of scatters
Scatters landedFree spinsWhat it means in practice
3 scatters10 free spinsThe standard entry, and by far the most common
4 scatters12 free spinsTwo extra spins on top of the base award
5 scatters15 free spinsHalf again as long as a standard trigger
6 scatters20 free spinsDouble the base award — the grid has time to fill
7 scatters30 free spinsThe maximum trigger, and a genuine outlier

The rule that makes the round worth waiting for

Every multiplier spot created during the free spins stays on the board until the round ends. Nothing resets between spins. A tile that reached x8 on spin two is still x8 on spin nine, and can keep doubling from there. By the closing spins of a long trigger the grid is a minefield of live multipliers, and a single well-placed cluster can be worth more than everything before it combined.

How often does it actually land?

About once every 310 spins, on the published figures. At £0.20 a spin that is roughly £62 of turnover between bonus rounds on average — and an average is not a guarantee, so stretches of twice that length are entirely normal. If you intend to reach the feature naturally rather than buying it, plan a bankroll that survives at least three hundred spins.

Paytable

Why these are ranges and not exact figures

Pragmatic Play publishes the paytable inside the game rather than in a press sheet, and independent reviews report the values by tier rather than symbol by symbol. Rather than invent precise numbers we have not been able to verify, the table above gives the published tier bands: a cluster of five returns 0.2x to 1x depending on the symbol, and a cluster of fifteen or more returns 20x to 40x on the lows and 60x to 150x on the premiums. For the exact figure attached to each symbol, open the paytable in the game itself — it takes one tap and it is authoritative.

Special bets

Five ways to change the odds — and what each one costs

Most slots offer a bonus buy and leave it there. Sugar Rush Super Scatter gives you five separate levers, priced from ten times your stake to five hundred. They are not interchangeable, and two of them cannot be used together.

  • Ante Bet

    5x your stake

Raises scatter density so the free spins arrive roughly ten times more often. It cannot be combined with the Buy Feature.

Best forPlayers who want the bonus to come naturally instead of paying a lump sum for it.

  • Super Spin 1

    10x your stake

Buys a single spin that begins with a handful of random multiplier spots already on the grid, anywhere from x2 to x128.

Best forA cheap way to test what a pre-seeded grid feels like without committing to a full bonus buy.

  • Super Spin 2

    250x your stake

Buys a single spin with x32 sitting on every position of the 7x7 grid from the very first tumble.

Best forThe high-variance option — one spin, one outcome, no averaging out.

  • Buy Free Spins

    100x your stake

Drops you straight into the free spins round with a standard scatter trigger and an empty grid.

Best forAnyone who came for the bonus and does not want to grind 310 spins for it.

  • Buy Super Free Spins

    500x your stake

The same round, except every position starts at x2 — so the doubling ladder begins one rung higher everywhere.

Best forBankrolls deep enough to absorb a 500x purchase that can still return nothing.

Sugar Rush Super Scatter Buy Feature panel
The Buy Feature panel at a £2 base bet: £200 for standard Free Spins (100x) and £1,000 for Super Free Spins (500x), with x2 pre-loaded on every grid position.

Ante Bet and Buy Feature are mutually exclusive

Switching the Ante Bet on disables the buy options entirely, so you are choosing a route rather than stacking advantages. The ante suits long, steady sessions where you would rather the bonus arrive on its own terms. The buy suits short sessions with a fixed budget where waiting three hundred spins is not the plan. Neither changes the underlying return — Pragmatic Play publishes the feature-buy RTP at 96.56%, effectively the same as natural play on the top configuration.

Risk profile

Volatility, hit rate and how to size a bankroll

High volatility is not a marketing word here, it is a description of what your balance will do. These are the published numbers and what each one means for an ordinary session.

High — 5 / 5Long flat stretches are the normal state of this game, not a run of bad luck.

  • Hit rate1 in 3.1 spinsRoughly one spin in three returns something, though often less than the stake.
  • Bonus frequency1 in 310 spinsBudget for three hundred spins if you intend to reach the feature naturally.
  • Max win odds1 in 10,000,000The 50,000x ceiling is a headline number, not a session target.
  • Top multiplierx1,024 per spotAnd several spots inside one cluster are added together before the payout.
  • VolatilityHigh (5/5)Expect long flat runs punctuated by rare, very large returns.
  • RTP spread96.58% / 95.53% / 94.52%Operators choose the configuration — always check before you play.

Sizing the stake, in one paragraph

Work backwards from the bonus frequency rather than from the balance. If the feature averages one appearance every 310 spins and you want a realistic chance of seeing two of them, plan for roughly 600 spins. Divide your session budget by 600 and round down to the nearest step the game offers — that is your stake. At a £60 budget it lands near £0.10 per spin; at £200 it is closer to £0.30. It will feel too small. That feeling is the point: it is what keeps you in the game long enough for the maths to do anything at all.

What a typical bonus actually returns

Most rounds finish in the region of 15x to 90x your stake, because most rounds are ten-spin triggers on which the multiplier spots never climb far. The rounds people post screenshots of are the ones where a long trigger met a run of overlapping clusters and the grid filled with three-figure multipliers. Both belong to the same distribution. Planning around the second kind is how bankrolls disappear.

Check the RTP before you spin

Three configurations exist: 96.58%, 95.53% and 94.52%. Over a thousand spins at £0.20 the gap between the top and bottom build is worth roughly £4 in expected return — small per spin, meaningful over a season. The figure is in the game’s information panel, it takes five seconds to read, and no reputable operator hides it.

At a glance

What works, and what to watch

A fair summary of a game we have played across several hundred spins on each of the three casinos listed above.

What works

  • Super Scatters pay cash directly — a feature the earlier Sugar Rush titles never had
  • 50,000x ceiling, twice what Sugar Rush 1000 offered and twenty-five times the original
  • 96.58% at the top configuration, comfortably above the UK average for cluster slots
  • Multiplier spots persist for the whole free spins round instead of resetting each spin
  • Five separate special bets, from a 10x single spin to a 500x super bonus buy
  • Wide stake band — £0.20 to £240 covers casual and high-roller sessions alike

What to watch

  • A bonus round roughly every 310 spins demands a patient bankroll
  • Three RTP configurations exist and the lowest is nearly two points below the top one
  • The 7x7 grid is genuinely busy on a small phone screen
  • Ante Bet and the Buy Feature are mutually exclusive, so you must pick one route

Demo play versus real money

The demo is not a watered-down version. It runs the same maths at the same RTP configuration, which makes it the cheapest way to learn how a tumble sequence feels before any of your own money is involved. It opens right here on this page — no registration, no deposit, no time limit.

The one thing a demo cannot teach you is how the volatility feels when the balance is real. Virtual credits refill; a bankroll does not. Use the demo to learn the rules — how a tumble chain resolves, how quickly a multiplier spot climbs, what a dead three-hundred-spin stretch looks like — and then set your deposit and loss limits before you switch over.

Avoid these

Six mistakes that cost players money on this slot

None of these are exotic. They are the ordinary errors that turn a high-volatility cluster slot from entertainment into an expensive afternoon.

  • Staking for fifty spins when the bonus needs three hundred

The feature averages one appearance every 310 spins. Divide your session budget by 300, not by 50, and you will pick a stake that actually lasts long enough to see it.

  • Reading x1,024 as a likely outcome

That figure is the top of the doubling ladder, reached only when the same tile wins ten separate times. Most bonus rounds finish with spots in the x2 to x32 band.

  • Playing a lower RTP build without checking

Three configurations are published: 96.58%, 95.53% and 94.52%. The operator picks one. Open the game information panel and confirm the number before your first real spin.

  • Raising the stake after a dry run

Each spin is independent. A hundred blank spins do not make the next one more likely to pay, and doubling your stake only halves how long your balance survives.

  • Buying the 500x bonus on a short bankroll

Super Free Spins costs five hundred times your stake and can still return less than it cost. If one purchase would take a serious bite out of your balance, it is the wrong purchase.

  • Treating the base game as the main event

Multiplier spots wipe at the end of every base-game spin. The persistent version only exists inside the free spins, which is where the maths actually lives.

Top 1WinWinTer

WinWinTer is the pick for players who want the cash part of the offer to be as large as possible and the withdrawal part to be as short as possible. Deposits clear instantly, the cashier keeps e-wallet requests inside the same working day, and the whole Pragmatic Play catalogue — Sugar Rush Super Scatter included — sits behind a single search field. The 150 free spins are released in daily batches rather than one lump, which suits a 7x7 cluster game where a session can stay flat for a long stretch.

Top 2SpinfiN

SpinfiN carries the biggest headline figure of the three and the deepest library — more than four thousand titles, with the full Sugar Rush line-up sitting side by side so you can jump between the original, the 1000 version and Super Scatter without leaving the lobby. The loyalty programme converts ordinary spins into points from the first session rather than after some hidden threshold, which makes it the sensible home for anyone planning long low-stake runs at £0.20 to £0.60 a spin.

Top 3SPINBOSS

SPINBOSS is the mobile-first option: a native app for iOS and Android, push alerts for bonus releases, and a support desk that genuinely answers at three in the morning. Its wagering requirement is the lowest here at 20x, so the bonus balance converts faster even though the headline number sits between the other two. If you mostly play in portrait on a phone, this is the smoothest route into Sugar Rush Super Scatter.

Offers apply to new customers aged 18 or over who have not held an account with the operator before. Minimum deposit £10. Wagering requirements apply to the bonus balance as shown above and must be met before withdrawal. Free spins are credited on selected games and may expire. Full terms are published by each operator — read them before you deposit.

    The scatters finally do something

Two thousand spins in and the thing I keep coming back to is that a scatter landing is no longer just a countdown to the bonus — it is money on its own. Caught two Super Scatters in one drop at 80p and the grid handed over 500x without even entering the feature. That never happened in the old Sugar Rush.

Persistent spots are the whole game

Ignore the base game, it is just a scatter hunt. The moment the free spins start and those multiplier tiles stop wiping, the board turns into something else entirely. By spin eight I had four tiles sitting on x64 and a single decent cluster paid more than the previous hour.

    Brilliant, but respect the 310

Genuinely one of the better cluster slots out there, though I will say the bonus frequency is no joke. My first two sessions were flat as a pancake. Third one hit on spin 240 and returned about 180x. Set a spin budget, stick to it, and it is a lot more fun.

I was expecting a 7x7 board to chug on my four-year-old Android. It does not. Portrait mode keeps every tile readable, the tumbles stay smooth even with a long cascade running, and I have never had it drop a session on mobile data.

Super Spin 1 is the hidden gem

Everyone talks about the 500x super buy but the 10x single spin is the one I actually use. You get a board that already has a few multiplier tiles on it for the price of ten spins. It is the cheapest way to see what the maths can do without emptying the account.

    Best-looking slot Pragmatic have shipped

Sounds shallow but it matters over a long session. The candy art is clean rather than cluttered, the win animations do not drag, and you can read a seven-symbol cluster at a glance. Small thing, but it is why this one stayed in my rotation and the last three did not.

FAQ

Sugar Rush Super Scatter — frequently asked questions

The ten questions readers send us most often, answered against the published figures rather than from memory.

  • 96.58% on the highest published configuration. Pragmatic Play also ships builds at 95.53% and 94.52%, and the operator decides which one you get. Open the information panel inside the game and read the figure there before your first real-money spin — it is the single number with the largest effect on a long session.

  • 50,000x your stake. It is awarded when four Super Scatters land inside a qualifying set of three or more scatters. At the £0.20 minimum that is £10,000; at the £240 ceiling it is the sort of figure that makes headlines. The published frequency is roughly one in ten million spins, so treat it as the top of the range rather than a target.

  • It is a second scatter type — the yellow sun lollipop — that counts towards the free spins trigger and pays cash on its own. Land one to four of them inside a group of three or more scatters and the game pays 100x, 500x, 5,000x or 50,000x respectively. The earlier Sugar Rush titles had nothing equivalent; their scatters only opened the bonus.

  • Every winning cluster leaves its tiles marked. If a later win covers a marked tile, that tile gains an x2 multiplier, and each repeat hit doubles it — x2, x4, x8 and onwards to a ceiling of x1,024. When a cluster covers several marked tiles, their values are added together before the payout is applied.

  • Because in the base game every marked tile and every multiplier is cleared once the tumble sequence ends. Inside the free spins they persist for the whole round, so each spin builds on the last one. That is why a long trigger — six or seven scatters — is worth so much more than two extra spins would suggest.

  • Five or more matching symbols connected horizontally or vertically. Diagonals do not count. Payouts scale with cluster size: five of a kind returns a fraction of your stake, while fifteen or more pays 20x to 40x on the low symbols and 60x to 150x on the three premiums.

  • Three or more scatters of any type, anywhere on the grid. Three awards 10 spins, four gives 12, five gives 15, six gives 20 and seven gives 30. On average the round appears about once every 310 spins, which is the single most important number to plan a bankroll around.

  • There are two. Buy Free Spins costs 100x your stake for a standard round; Buy Super Free Spins costs 500x and starts every grid position on x2. Both carry the same RTP band as natural play, so neither is a shortcut to profit — they simply compress three hundred spins of waiting into one transaction.

  • The Ante Bet raises your stake by five times and makes the free spins roughly ten times more likely. It cannot be used at the same time as the Buy Feature, so you are choosing between two routes to the same round. On a long session the ante tends to feel steadier; the buy suits short, decisive sessions.

  • Yes — the free demo runs directly on this page. Press any “Play free demo” button and the game opens in a window with virtual credits: no registration, no deposit and no time limit. The mathematics are identical to the real-money version at the same RTP configuration, so a demo run is a genuine way to learn the tumble rhythm before any of your own money is involved. What it cannot do is pay out or qualify for a welcome bonus.
